The Federal Association IT-Mittelstand eV ( BITMi ) is an IT trade association whose members are medium-sized IT companies. Through the association, both established IT companies and start-ups come together to find common interests. The association represents the interests of more than 1,500 medium-sized IT companies in Germany with a turnover of several billion euros.
It is the goal of BITMi to accelerate the growth and productivity of IT SMEs and drive market development through intensive networking. It is particularly important for the association to strengthen Germany as a location. That is why the BITMi cooperates with the Federal Ministry of Economics and gives the IT middle class there its own voice.
Sebastian Feik has been a member of the board of the BITMi since February 2017 and is head of the “IT Security” working group in this function . The aim and vision of the working group is to develop data protection and information security solutions for and with SMEs in order to ensure sustainable security for SMEs. BITKOM is the mouthpiece of the IT, telecommunications, and new media industry. BITKOM represents more than 2,100 companies, including more than 1,300 direct members. In August 2012, the Cyber Security Council Germany eV was founded by well-known personalities. The Berlin-based association is politically neutral and has the purpose of advising companies, public authorities and policymakers on cyber security and strengthening them in the fight against cybercrime. Legitimis has been an active member of the Cybersicherheitsrat Deutschland eV since 2015 .
Since February, 2017 managing director Sebastian Feik has led the working group ” Smart Privacy Hub.” Its vision is to bring stakeholders together in a neutral place in order to jointly develop targeted, group- oriented solutions.
Legitimis has been a member of ASIS International – ASIS Germany eV since 2017 . With more than 37,000 members, ASIS International is the world’s largest organization for security issues in the private sector. Its headquarters is located in Alexandria, VA in the U.S., and there are more than 200 national associations (so-called Chapters) around the world.
The purpose of the German Chapter is to promote corporate and group security in all aspects, and to provide relevant expertise for industry, public authorities, trade and service companies, and educational institutions. ASIS has set itself the task of increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security measures. It will develop training and education programs and materials that address the broad challenges involved.
With more than 800 member companies, eco is the largest association of the internet economy in Europe. Since 1995, it has been significantly shaping the development of the Internet in Germany, promoting new technologies, infrastructures and markets, and shaping framework conditions. The eco competence groups represent all important experts and decision-makers in the Internet industry and promotes current and future Internet topics. Legitimis has been a member of eco since 2016 and is involved in all data protection activities.
The Data Protection Foundation was established in January 2013 to strengthen citizen self-protection through education and education. Its aim is to increase sensitivity to the value of privacy and personal information and to gain more knowledge about the possibilities of using personal data sparingly.

The Professional Association of Data Protection Commissioners (BvD) eV acts as an interface between business, politics, science, supervisory authorities, and data protection officers. Founded in 1989, the association is one of the oldest representative bodies for official data protection officers and data protection consultants in Germany. Headquartered in Berlin, the association represents the interests of BvD members.
Through strategic communication, promotion of education and training, and sustainable networking, the topic of corporate data protection is brought to the center of the public. Because the increasing complexity of our communication society requires a strong professional association for privacy advocates.
The networker NRW is the largest IT network in North Rhine-Westphalia. The association was founded in November 2000 by IT entrepreneurs and currently has more than 150 member companies. Networker NRW offers a network of personal contacts for IT and media entrepreneurs and stands for information, cooperation, and partnership. The aim of the association is to generate business for its members.
From August 2014 to September 2017, Mr. Feik (managing director of legitimis) was spokesman of the board of the regional forum Bergisches Land of the networker NRW eV. Together with Mr. Achim Leopold, TE @ MCONCONSULT, they represented the forum within the domestic region with the aim to implement security, IT, and legal challenges as an integral solution in partnership and to clarify and advance the issues of the topics as a competence center.
